Friday March 10 Mekong delta

Today's tour was the Mekong delta.
I expected to see the floating markets at Cai Be.  Unfortunately the markets ceased about 10 years ago.  We did take a tour of the Mekong and it was unlike anything else I have seen.    Cai Be was about a 3 hour bur ride each way from where the ship is docked.
We also stopped at a place that makes coconut candy.
After the candy factory we went to lunch.  The tide had fallen and we could not get the tour boat up the canal to the restaurant.  We had to dock about a half mile away and walk. Folks were unhappy and it was a hot walk down a narrow path and sidewalks with scooters.   Getting out of the boat was a little tough for some
Lunch was soup, spring rolls of elephant ear fish, then pork and veggies

This was floating down the river
the agriculture was very impressive as our guide said Vietnam is number 1 in the world for rice exports and the best rice was SD25.   The farm fields often had tombs randomly out in the field of the family that works the land.
It was a very long day
